New Best Friend

Since the beginning of time(June 9th to be exact) Brylee has always loved sucking on her fingers. I remember minutes after arriving she stuck her fingers in her mouth and was sucking on them but soon after we snatched them away by always having some sort of mitten on them. I of course didn't put the mittens on her because she was sucking her fingers but because she was a scratcher. I did however in the back of my mind think that she might forget about her liking her fingers. After the mittens were taken off she started with the knuckle sucking then slowly back to the fingers. And now.......SHE HAS FOUND HER THUMB. You see I have tried to get her to take Paci's. Nope, not interested! I don't know why I would think Paci's would be better than thumbs anyways. Maybe it's because you can take paci's away, thumbs.....not so much. I envision my 5 year old going to kindergarten with her thumb in her mouth. Okay so really the truth is, that's what I put my mom through. She tried everything from socks on my hands to sour tasting liquid painted on my thumb(which I liked the taste of so that failed) and who really knows what made me stop but I can't imagine it was a pretty sight to find your daughter hiding in the dog kennel sucking her thumb! So I guess this is payback that I get a thumb sucker OR maybe this is just a little tiny phase that will go away next month, Let hope! But for now it melts my heart when she sucks her little thumb it is so very very sweet(check back with me in 5 years)
Oh and my reading and recommendation for the month.........Love and Logic. Loved it!!

I'm in serious need of an update so here goes......

My little girl is 4 months old today! My sister in law Liz took her pictures and this is one of them, there will be more to come.

We have had a lot of fun this summer! We have been hanging out with good friends

Feeding the ducks

Jay has been out of town a little bit this summer for work. He tried to pack Brylee with him but by the look on her face I don't think she liked it too much

She has lots of fun cousins that love her SO much. Carter calls her BRY, it's so adorable.

and Josi who loves her SO much too(maybe a little too much sometimes if ya know what I mean) I have also gone back to work just one day a week, sometimes two but I try to keep it at one. My wonderful sister in law keeps Bry on those days and I am so blessed to have such great family around to be able to do that. I have Jos once a week and she is so much fun, what a fun age she is at. I learned the other day that I need to be careful what I say around her because I dropped something and said "Oh shut!(yes I really said shut) and next thing I know Josi said "OH SHUT!" whoops but it could have been worse I guess. Every time she comes to my house she is already yelling BY-YEE before she gets in the door. She is so excited to get to play with her Brylee

And cousin Chloe who would give her kisses and kisses and kisses all day long if she could.

I was so sad this day!!!! I went to see Aschli's newborn baby Bowen and realized Brylee isn't a newborn anymore! Her leg is the size of three of his! lol actually it really was a fun day, I got to hang out and chat with Asch. I love watching all my friends building there cute little families. It's still crazy to me that we're at this stage in life because it seems like just yesterday we were all carefree crazy girls
Gotta love the Bumbo

Jay and I are so happy and blessed to be able to be parents to such a perfect little angel. It's so much fun and everyday we get to see her learn and grow and do something new. Being a mom is everything I ever imagined and more.

I took the video with my phone to send to Jay so it's kinda a bad picture but she has started to giggle a little bit, I love it

Smiles

She's all smiles........

Unless of course, shes not........but we love her either way :)

Oh and I am in the middle of reading some books and The Healthy Sleep habits is a must read for any parent that is struggling with a child that has sleep issues(naps, bedtime drama, waking up at night, etc.) Brylee is still so young (6 weeks now!) to even know if she will have sleeping problems but I wanted to get on top of it early! She has always been a great sleeper at night, usually only wakes up once but was extremely fussy during most of the day, after reading the book I discovered that she was exhausted. I started soothing her to sleep a lot more and earlier than before and she is like a totally different baby. Her bedtime is now 7pm (before we had to deal with a screaming session for 2 hours from 9-11 sometimes) and she still sleeps through the night only waking up once. She was screaming because she was overly tired. I just had no idea how important sleep really was so anyways I just wanted to share because I know if it helped me I'm sure it can help someone else out (thank you T for recommending the book, love ya!) First time parenting is so much fun, it's definitely a learning process but I am loving every minute of it!

Brylee's Here!

Brylee Allred
June 9th
8 pounds 13 oz
21 inches born at 11:03a.m.

24 hours into labor, dilated to a 7 and still smiling

I now know the meaning of perfection

She couldn't take her eyes off of him

I just want to say that I recommend taking the hypnobirthing class to ANYONE that is going to have a baby, epidural or not. We learned so much. I now believe that using visualization techniques was 95% of my success in my pregnancy, labor and delivery. I also now know how powerful the mind really is. I really wanted to post my birth story but it wont let me copy and paste and it is pretty long so hopefully I can figure it out.....

I really really did it.....

I used a real live sewing machine! My lovely and talented sister in law convinced me that I could make a blanket, and with her help of course I went to the fabric store picked out the colors and sewed up a blanket! When I first walked in the store I was SO over whelmed. There is way to many things to choose from and where do I even start? As we started putting things in the cart I was wondering(and texting Jay) I don't think she knows what she is getting herself into. All together we had enough material to make 3 different kinds of blankets. The thought also ran through my mind that for sure we are not getting these done by the time Brylee is here. So we get home start cutting and before I knew it I was done with my blanket. Although the squares don't match up at all and I sewed 2 sides the entire way before realizing that there was no string in the needle, I am very proud of my accomplishment. It was so much fun and I think I would love to look into getting a sewing machine. I'm thinking I must be on my way to being a mom with these crazy homemaker thoughts. Thanks so much Liz you're the best!

Here we are at 31 weeks, YAY I'm getting so close to getting to hug and kiss and touch our little angel. I never imagined it would be so much fun to be pregnant, I really love it and feel so blessed to be able to carry a little spirit into the world. We are doing all we can to prepare to bring her here, and p.s. shopping for a girl is so easy because there are so so so many cute things! I have decided I want to do a natural birth, with the help of hypnobirthing so send good positive thoughts towards me friends :) Plus I have a great partner that I know is going to put me at ease and keep things calm. I will definitely let you all know how it goes. As for anything else going on there is not much, just working and waiting patiently for Brylee's arrival.......
